I wrote a blog review earlier about the devotions we like to use as a family at nighttime. You can read that here. But my youngest child, my daughter, still enjoys smaller picture books. She enjoys a quick read with sight words she can recognize, which makes her feel like a “big kid reader” like her older brother. He likes to read books to us, and when the books have basic sight words, she likes to “read” also.

Recently, I received a copy of Say and Pray Devotions- First Words, Devotions and Prayers to review. My daughter and I have absolutely loved this book! Not only has it given us some great mom and daughter reading time (nothing is better than snuggling on the couch and reading a good book together), but it has given her the opportunity to practice identifying basic sight words along with providing a short devotion and prayer with each page. In other words, this may just be the perfect book for little ones who enjoy reading and receiving daily reminders of the wonderful things God has created for us!

The book itself is colorful with a fun style of artwork. Each page provides a different topic like My Family, Zoo Day, Fun with Friends, My Pets and Our Helpers, for example. Each topic contains a sentence or two on given topic and then provides a Say and Pray section on the neighboring page, presenting a Bible verse with the topic and a short prayer to say aloud. I love that this book covers the basics of identification and comprehension. The illustrations contain boxed in sight words, that my daughter loves shouting out as we read each page. The short passages are great for young, and often short attention spans, and the say-aloud prayer and sight words provide and interactive element of sorts. As a parent, I love this offering of a topical message that help my little one learn and follow Biblical principles.

If you are looking for a perfect beginner devotional, then this is the book you are looking for! I just know that you and your little one will enjoy it as much as my daughter and I have. You can order your own copy here!
