This weekend is Halloween! While not my favorite holiday by any means, my kids are excited. Of course they are- they get to gather buckets of candy and attend a Fall Festival dressed as Ant Man and Belle (or Cinderella. Like her mom, making decisions is hard!) Halloween has just never been my thing. I am a scaredy cat. Keep those skulls, ghosts, guys with chainsaws and even the creepy, sliced up pumpkins away! In all honesty, it is usually… Read more »

Since yesterday, we have been experiencing some seriously heavy winds and rain. Since there was no severe weather threats, school was still on for this super wet Monday. Oh, how I dreaded getting out of the house and taking my son to school. Loading up his little sister and getting them both in and out can be daunting, but throw in heavy downpours and high winds that guarantee a soaking even with an umbrella, and suddenly the morning gets worse…. This week my son’s Kindergarten class has learned about pumpkins. While he has enjoyed it, and I have had to find places to display his many pumpkin art projects that leave pumpkin seeds dotted along the floor in our house, I have dreaded the looming end of the week. Why? Because parents were asked to send in pumpkin treats for the students to enjoy at the end of the day Friday.  I do not mind contributing at all. In fact,… Read more »

Memories are the key not to the past, but to the future.     Corrie Ten Boom I love memories. I love making them, talking about them repeatedly, thinking back on them, sharing them and having them to reflect on. I haven’t gotten much writing done this week. I blame it on an especially busy weekend, two sick kids that keep relapsing with these nasty colds, and just the things of life that take up my time- like cooking, cleaning, laundry. On a positive note, the kids are on the mend! Hopefully. They have each fooled me twice already, only to become more sickly than the first time.  My son has missed two days of school this week. I have… Read more »

Nearly a year and a half ago, our family was enjoying a trip to Star Wars Weekends at Walt Disney World. As we exited Hollywood Studios to take a quick rest, I wanted to grab a few shirts from the special event in one of the shops. My daughter, then one and a half years old, let out a huge squeal and began pointing towards a display on the wall. I had never seen her so excited. She reached for… Read more »

This past Saturday we were at our usual spot at the soccer field. My son has taken a love to the sport, and while last year was his first year and we basically just watched him run up and down the field, this year he has really caught on and actually played very well. He has scored several goals and loves to go to practice and all his games. However, this past Saturday was a little different. As the game… Read more »

“How do you spell ‘love’?” -Piglet “You don’t spell it…. you feel it.” -Pooh A.A. Milne When things feel down and out, which sometimes they do no matter how hard you try to avoid it, life will give you a glimpse of happiness that puts things right back into perspective. In my life, I have been blessed with a three year old daughter that reminds me daily what the cure-all is for feeling good. Big hugs! There are numerous times… Read more »
